[DE] Während meines Trips nach Vang Vieng im Dezember (2021) lieh ich mir von meinem Gästehaus ein Fahrrad, radelte aus der Stadt hinaus und wanderte dann zum Nam Xay Viewpoint. Oben angekommen wurde ich mit einem spektakulären Ausblick und Sonnenuntergang belohnt. 

[EN] During my trip to Vang Vieng in December (2021), I borrowed a bicycle from my guesthouse, cycled out of town, and then hiked to Nam Xay Viewpoint. At the top I was rewarded with a spectacular view and sunset.

[DE] Meistens, wenn ich einen neuen Ort besuche, erkunde ich zunächst die nähere Umgebung meiner Unterkunft sowie das Stadtzentrum, um einen Überblick und einen Eindruck des Ortes zu bekommen. Genauso habe ich es während meines einwöchigen Aufenthaltes in Vang Vieng im Dezember (2021) getan.

​Die Stadt ist unter Normalumständen quasi das Backpacker- und Partyzentrum von Laos. Nach fast zwei Jahren Corona-Pandemie ist davon allerdings nicht mehr viel zu sehen. Die Stadt ähnelt vielmehr einer Geisterstadt. 

[EN] Most of the time when I visit a new place, I first explore the immediate surroundings of my accommodation as well as the city center to get an overview and an impression of the place. So I did the same during my one-week stay in Vang Vieng in December (2021).

Under normal circumstances, the city is virtually the backpacker and party center of Laos. However, after almost two years of the Covid pandemic, there is not much of that left. The city rather resembles a ghost town.
