Video: Life in Laos - Community Pantry

[DE] Nachdem Jaypee und ich bereits seit einigen Wochen vier Studentenwohnheime und eine Einrichtung für Menschen mit Behiderungen mit Lebensmitteln beliefern, so dass sie einigermaßen durch den Lockdown kommen, haben wir zusätzlich eine Community Pantry vor Jaypee's Haus eingerichtet, um ebenfalls Menschen in unserer unmittelbaren Nachbarschaft zu unterstützen.

Die Menschen, die hierher kommen, sind oftmals die Schwächsten in der Gesellschaft - hauptsächlich Kinder und alte Menschen. Mit Hilfe der Pantry erreichen wir also diejenigen, zu denen wir sonst keinen Zugang haben, geschweige denn Kenntnis über ihre aktuelle Situation haben. Daher sind wir froh, dass sich die Pantry innerhalb kürzester Zeit rumgesprochen hat und somit gut angenommen wird.

Zwischen Montag ud Mittwoch unterstützen wir dort täglich 50+ Menschen. Alleine in der vergangenen Woche haben wir zur Verfügung gestellt:
- 150 kg Reis
- 450 Pakete Nudeln
- 450 Eier
- 40 kg Gemüse

Dieses Video gibt einen kleinen Einblick in die Pantry und deren Ablauf und ist zudem ein kleines Dankeschön an alle, die uns bei dieser Lebensmittel-Hilfsinitiative bislang unterstützt haben. Vielen Dank!

[EN] After Jaypee and I started to support four student dorms and a facility for people with disabilities with food relief packages a few weeks ago so that they can get somehow through the lockdown, we also set up a community pantry in front of Jaypee's house recently to support people in our immediate neighborhood.

The people who come here are often the weakest in society - mostly children and elderly people. Thus, the pantry allows us to reach those to whom we otherwise wouldn’t have access, let alone know about their current situation. Therefore, we’re glad that the pantry got around within a very short amount of time and that many people come to receive some support.

Last week we supported between Monday and Wednesday 50+ people per day and provided:
- 150 kg of rice
- 450 packages of noodles
- 450 eggs
- 40 kg of vegetables

This video gives an insight into the pantry and how it works but it’s also a small thank you to everyone who supported us in this cause so far. Thank you very much!
